Burger King employees arrested for fraud

Two female employees of Burger King were arrested and charged with nine counts of obtaining credit by fraud, after they reportedly used a customer's credit card to obtain food and clothing amounting to $40,000 in value.

The women, Dahlia Dinnel, 21, a cashier of a McDonald Place, Olympic Way, Kingston 11 address, and Anisha McLeod, 21, cashier of a Newlands, Portmore, St Catherine address, were both charged on January 25 after being arrested on January 18.

THE STAR was told that on January 17, the complainant visited the store located along North Odeon Avenue, Kingston 10, and used his credit card to purchase a meal. He forgot the card in the store. It is alleged that between 2:20 p.m. and 5:07 p.m., the women used the complainant's card to purchase meals in the establishment and to buy clothes valuing over $30,000 from a store located along Luke Lane in downtown Kingston.

Interviewed

They were interrogated by store managers who became aware of the issue when the complainant revealed that he had left his card in the store. The women were interviewed and later arrested and charged by the police.

It is alleged that one of the women told the clerk in the clothing store that she had forgotten her ID.

The police are encouraging credit card holders to be very vigilant when using their cards. They are also advising that persons ask their bank to pin their cards, to prevent or reduce the risk of forgery.

The women are expected to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
