Since the Sting 2008 clash between Vybz Kartel and Mavado at Jamworld, Portmore, St Catherine, there have been arguments about who actually won.
On Sunday night at Portmore Crack-Up, held at Klub Klymaxx on the roof of the Portmore Pines Plaza, Elva declared the real winner of this and other Sting battles.
Undisputed champion
After canvassing the large crowd for 'Gaza' and 'Gully' supporters, Elva said "what a ting Laing bring come a Portmore," referring to Supreme Promotions head Isaiah Laing.
"Laing is the undisputed 25 -year champion of Sting every year," she said, adding that he gets people to pay to go near a swampland filled with mosquitoes.
The audience cheered.
Elva turned her attention to the clash itself, saying she had watched it on YouTube and had a very hearty laugh. She talked about Mavado saying 'level' when no music was being played. As for Kartel, she spoke about him saying "tun up de mic."
"Me live 25 mile from Waterford and me hear him clear clear," Elva said.
She had some advice for them both. For Kartel she said "tell im sey me sey fi take up shopkeeping, sell the daggerin' condom an' rum cause nobody else nah sell it." Again there were hoots of laughter.
Giving the nod
As for Mavado, Elva said he should "help some odda artis' whe a struggle wid some lyrics. Cause de bway talented. Him can help Noddy Virtue."
Klub Klymaxx erupted. "Noddy have a presence, but him fe sing people song," she said, commenting on Virtue's originals.
Ity and Fancy Cat also went back to the Sting 2008 clash, acting it out as Ity strode up first in full black chanting "sen dem out!" Fancy Cat was quickly up in army gear, as Kartel was at the clash, and Klub Klymaxx went into howls of delight as they traded lyrics.
That included Ity turning to an imaginary band and saying 'level, level' repeatedly.
And they proposed some 'real' clashes, including Spice, Mayor McKenzie and LA Lewis. "If you want a real clash, you have to clash Mayor Keith Hinds with mosquitoes," they said.
The audience loved it.
