Fake licence lands man in court

A man accused of presenting a forged driver's licence in the Traffic Court denied that the document was fraudulent when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Charged with possession of a forged document and uttering a forged document is Keith Shaw, a 69-year-old cable technician of a Dallas district, Papine, address.

The allegations are that Shaw appeared in the Traffic Court for careless driving and failure to report an accident and was asked to produce his driver's licence. The court was told that when he surrendered the documents, it was found to be fraudulent and was not issued by the Inland Revenue Department.

Shaw told the court that he has held a licence since 1977 and said he renewed it several times without hassle.

The matter is to be mentioned again on February 4.
