Teen sought for stabbing

A 16-year-old student of a school in St Catherine is being sought by the Bog Walk police following a stabbing incident on Wednesday which left a 15-year-old nursing injuries.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at the school about 1 p.m. during an altercation.

A fight ensued during which the 15-year-old was stabbed with a knife in the shoulder and had to be taken to hospital.

Efforts to get a comment from officials at the school were unsuccessful.

A man facing several counts of burglary, shop breaking, and larceny, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Garfield West appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown.

The court was told that West, 40, of Rock Valley, Stony Hill, St Andrew, was charged in connection with break-ins and robberies at various locations throughout the Corporate Area. The court was told by investigators that West's prints matched those found at the scenes of the robberies.

His lawyer argued that his client had been in custody for more than a month without bail, but West was denied bail again and was remanded until February 11 when the matter will be mentioned.
