Goddy Goddy
The 'ghetto priest', gospel artiste and minister, Goddy Goddy, will soon hit television screens with a reality series looking at his ministry in the streets.
MTM TV, the Caribbean's largest Christian network is set to venture into what many might deem unconventional waters, with local programming that will be taking a page from the secular market.
The programme, called Jesus Walks, will be hosted by Goddy Goddy and is one of many new programmes to be launched in the coming weeks by MTM TV. The show will focus primarily on the Gospel.
In a release sent to the STAR, Mr Hanson, the founder of MTM TV said " 'Jesus Walks' is our way of bringing Goddy Goddy's effort of ministering to lost souls, primarily in Kingston's inner-cities, to the forefront, because he is doing a great work and it needs to be highlighted, if for no other reason, but that others can see what a young man who serves the Lord can do, as well as to share the message with not just those he sees face to face, but with the viewing audience all across Jamaica, the rest of the Caribbean and worldwide via MTM TV's live 24 hour Internet streaming."
Our testimony
When the STAR spoke to Goddy Goddy, he explained that while the idea for the show wasn't his, it was a good idea. "Jamaica needs to see what's happening in the inner-city, see when we give our testimony cause people are more affected when they see for themselves people being saved."
Goddy Goddy says he has been working for months in the Maxfield Avenue community with great success and has brought together two community leaders to sign a peace treaty.
For Goddy Goddy, this is just one of many developments in his career. Towards the end of 2008, the artiste scored a hit with Chakka Chai Chai. He was the spokesperson for Courts and made his presence felt at Sting.
For 2009, Goddy Goddy is looking for good things. "It is gonna be a wonderful year. I was at Sting and people were asking for more. Other promoters have been asking for me, so that door is opening up. I just did a tour in Africa and that went well as well."
