Bragga Dat does it again

In this weekly 'Mus' Buss Caan Buss' song review feature, three musical minds will analyse each song and will grade it on vocal ability, lyrics, musical arrangement and appeal. Songs that make the grade will be dubbed 'Mus Buss', while songs that flop, will be dumped in the 'Caan Buss' bin.

The three reviewers welcome feedback from the artistes and the public about the column. Send your comments to bussdem@hotmail.com or mail in your songs to 'Mus' Buss' at the Gleaner Company, 7 North Street, Kingston. This week the mus' buss/caan buss team will be reviewing Bragga Dat's Look Dem Gyal.

Queen : "It sound di same as Dagga Dat."

Lady Boo: "Dagga Dat soun betta, it flow betta on di riddim."

Witch: "First of all mi happy him have a another song, caw him have dat one song from looong time an di song did do well but mi did waan hear

sumting new. Dis one apparently doing well in the garrison though, di riddim is real interesting a country dance kinda ting."

Queen: "His songs sound like nursery rhymes, including dis one, because di lyrics and di rhymes are just oh-so-simple, not that that's a bad thing. But to mi it just show lack of creativity."

Lady Boo: "Lyrics suppose to be simple to let listeners sing along and dem sumting deh but dis just fool, it have nuting bout it. And him pon dis flip it like a dollar coin, and roll it like a ten cent

wha nutting more no mek, him couldn't so sumting different for dis song?"

Queen: "Yuh see after Dagga Dat I really wanted Bragga to do another song dat showed me more of his versatility and showed me that he had more style and flair but him let me down."

Witch: "Dis remind me of a 'Passa Passa' type song, weh people a just a go mad dem nah really pay attention to di lyrics. Dis is an in di streets type song not a radio play one especially wid all di expletives."

Lady Boo: "Mi like how di riddim start, it sound Scottish."

Queen: "Strangely as much as I hate di song, its going to buss caw Dagga Dat neva seh nutting an look how far it go."

Witch: "Dagga Dat a one verse over and over again, mi nuh kno if people recognise dat."

Lady Boo: "Di song dutty though too much bad word in deh."

Queen: "Yeah it caan play pon radio. An my other ting is him couldn't sing bout sumting different him sing bout daggering again."

Witch: "So wha unnu seh? buss or not?"

Queen: "Di only buss I would give is in di local dancehall, no odda dancehall outside of Jamaica."

Lady Boo: "Di only reason mi feel seh it woulda really buss is caw a Bragga and di people dem like him an his song Dagga Dat, so dem will like dis too."

Witch: "I can see the dancers going crazy ova dis and a do bare madness, dis is really a in di streets song. But no buss farther dan dat."
