BoJ's Clint Reid. - File
A hat-trick from Clint Reid was not enough as Scotiabank clipped Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) 5-4 in the 2008 Western Sports-sponsored Norman Good-ison Inter-Bank Football League on Sunday at the old men's hockey field, Mona.
BoJ's Reid scored the first of his three goals in the fifth minute after a cross from Andre Campbell was partially blocked by defender Norwayne Knight and dropped favourably for him to shoot powerfully past Denzil Isaacs in goal.
Got the equaliser
Nicholas McCreath who scored a brace, got the equaliser for Scotiabank in the eighth minute when he beat defenders Christopher Walker and Roy Williams before shooting past a hapless Joseph Sardath in goal.
Donovan Hibbert scored in the 18th minute to make it 2-1 for Scotiabank and they went further ahead in the 22nd minute when Richard West beat three defenders and scored.
Defensive error
BoJ's Andre Campbell made it 3-2 after a defen-sive error by Ryan Law-rence allowed him to shoot powerfully into the roof of the net.
McCreath made it 4-2 early in the second half when he beat Sardath from close range. Reid then slammed in twice from the penalty spot to level the scores.
The first penalty was awarded after Corey Ben-nett pulled down Andre Campbell in the box in the 63rd minute.
The second came in the 76th following a reckless tackle in the 18-yard box by Ghana Burrowes.
In matches played at the NWC playfield, defending champions National Comm-ercial Bank (NCB) and Jam-aica National Building So-ciety (JNBS) played to a 1-1 draw. Phillip Thomas gave NCB the lead in the fourth minute, and JNBS got the equaliser in the 73rd minute from Marlon Smith.
