Walker, Nelson look to increase stakes

JIMMY, Star Racing Writer

CHAMPION jockey Omar Walker and his rival for the 2008 riders' title, Dane Nelson, are set to land eight of the 10 events on tomorrow's 10-race card at Caymanas Park.

Both title-chasing riders went empty-handed last Saturday, upstaged by Shane Ellis' four-timer but are set to return with a bang tomorrow with Walker looking good in five races and Nelson three.

Walker, who has a 21-win lead over Nelson, is set to boot home HURRICANE JUSTICE, MARKET TRAIN, ROYAL DREAMER, LIKKLE BIT and LA'S DANCER.

Nelson, intent on reeling in his rival, should land a triple, IMAGE DANCER, LAWS OF LUVVE and WHEEL N DEAL.

Whereas Walker should win the first two races astride Wayne DaCosta's two-year-old debutant, HURRICANE JUSTICE, and Harry Parsard's improving three-year-old maiden, MARKET TRAIN, Nelson should reel off a hat-trick from races three to five.

HURRICANE JUSTICE's last workout, 1:01.0 flat for 1000 metres round, should be too good for his five rivals whereas MARKET TRAIN's last run, a battling second behind CLOSETOPERFECT at 1820 metres, should suit the colt well at a mile with only BIG MONEY to chase and beat.

IMAGE DANCER, who was beaten for second place by GABROUSHE behind STAR-OFTHESEA on July 26 when reporting off a three-month lay-up, returns treated with lasix for the rematch and gets the nod after impressing at exercise since that loss.

Six furlong

A six-furlong spin in 1:16.2 on Monday rounded off IMAGE DANCER's preparations, which started with 1:08.0 for five and a half furlong on August 5.

LAWS OF LUVVE should start favourite with Nelson in the fourth at 1100 metres after turning the table on old rival JAMMING on August 6.

JAMMING, who got the better of LAWS OF LUVVE in back-to-back races, ran poorly at 1500 metres behind BUCKTHEMINISTER. LAWSOFLUVVE was always prominent and finished two and a quarter-length third in that event.

WHEEL N DEAL, who bravely tried to mix it up with ALSAFRA and ROYAL IMAGE in the Derby, turning for home six lengths third, can't be opposed in the fifth at 1200 metres, rounding off Nelson's hat-trick.

However, the 'Walker Show' should resume in the sixth when the champion jockey should reel off the first of his hat-trick aboard ROYAL DREAMER for DaCosta at 1300 metres, followed by LIKKLE BIT for the champion trainer in the seventh at 1500 metres.

ROYAL DREAMER takes a plunge down in class on a $180,000 tag and should be an easy winner whereas LIKKLE BIT's big run, a half-length second to DR SOCRATES in a strong mile, 1:39.3, on August 6, makes the American-bred tough to beat.

Walker should seal his hat-trick with LA'S DANCER, who should get it right at 1500 metres among non-winners-of-three after losing second to MISS ROSE behind MAGNIFICO at a mile on August 2.
