CENTERSTAGE with Delly Ranx

Dancehall deejay Delly Ranx. - Contributed

Stage name: Delly Ranx

Real name: Delroy Foster

Birth date: October 14

Which high school did you attend?

Excelsior

How did you get started in the business?

At the tender age of nine going to 10, I entered a deejaying contest influenced by neighbours and friends who had a sound system called Redman High Power.

What has been your greatest challenge in the business?

To stay focused and current in this ever-changing industry. Also, in this world of music you have a lot of distraction, so once again, you have to stay focused.

What have you been up to lately?

Well, I've been doing some productions for Pure Music and working on my album. I have a single doing well called Close Fit on Esco riddim. I also have a couple of other singles like Rum Punch on the Rum Punch riddim, Please on the Soul Seeker riddim and Send Dem Come on Jungle Lion riddim.

Which artistes do you look up to?

Buju Banton, Spragga Benz, Terror Fabulous, Shabba Ranks, and every other artiste.

Are you happy with the way things are going for your career right now?

Yes, I'm happy because life is here. I'm also doing a lot of hard work for the future.

Anything you'd like to change about it?

Well, there is nothing I would like to change. Just trying to uplift myself and the music, move myself to another level and to make Jamaica a better place.

What are your future plans?

Well, planning for the next album, right now doing shows and taking care of myself and have been keeping out of trouble.

Do you have any advice for young artistes coming up?

Stay focused and be original. If yuh have someone that care for your career from day one, whenever you become a star, don't forget where yuh coming from and don't diss the one that help you to become a star.
