Michelle Bennett is all smiles, as she watches Reverend Jacob Powell pronounced God's blessings on her baby daughter, Kashi Miller at the Sharon Baptist Church in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, recently. - George Henry
When Michelle Bennett attended the Sharon Baptist Church, in Santa Cruz, recently, with her daughter Kashi Miller to be christened, she not only had the child dedicated to God, but received instructions on how to train her child from the pastor, Reverend Jacob Powell.
The proud mother was instructed by the church leader, to find good, encouraging words from her heart for her daughter, so that she can grow up knowing that somebody loves her. The Rev warned against 'sugar daddies'. "Nowadays, when we allow our children to receive things from persons, some of those very persons give, but they look back for something in return. And usually, they are not looking back for food or money. They are looking for just that little part of your daughter or son that can make them happy," noted Powell.
Protect children
He said some of those persons include individuals who have same-sex tendencies and preferences. Hence, there is a need for parents to guard their children from such persons and to protect them from such realities coming up in our society.
The pastor impressed upon Bennett not to allow any distance to exist between her daughter and the Church, and begged her to ensure that Kashi attends Sunday school or Sabbath school, while making certain that she receives proper religious training that is needed.
"When you train the child in the way he or she should go, that child, whenever he or she grows old, will not depart from that training. So, train your child up, love your child, seek assistance from the Church, do your best for your child, give your best to your child, and may God bless you as you seek to bring this little bundle of joy up into the world," instructed Rev Powell.
Bennett, who was in full agreement with Reverend Powell's instructions, pledged to have her daughter attend Church from an early age, so that she can receive proper religious instructions that are important in helping to shape her into a good worthwhile human being.
Little Kashi weighed 2.3kg when she was born at the Black River Hospital on April 1. Her father is Egland Miller. Miller did not attend the christening ceremony and missed out on the important instructions given by the minister.
