VIRGO DON

Dwight Nelson, Star Writer

Fresh Act Virgo Don. - Contributed

Virgo Don is one of the brightest, positive and creative upcoming artistes in the local dancehall arena today.

He was born in Birmingham, England, in the early 1970s, and christened Locksley Brown. His family, however, migrated to Jamaica while he was a toddler. He grew up in the community of Rosewell, Sandy Bay, in Clarendon.

The young DJ began his musical career while he was a student at Glenmuir High School. There he played on the school band and sang on the choir. His most defining moment, however, came when he started his solo performances.

The young artiste told the STAR that he was inspired by the dancehall artiste Papa San because of his versatility.

Although relatively unknown, the young artiste has had a busy career in terms of live performances and studio work, and has worked with almost every top-flight dancehall artiste in one capacity or another.

Virgo Don has made several stage appearances on shows such as Pepsi Teen Splash, Old Harbour Star Jam and Mountain Dew Stunt Fest, and has performed in the USA, UK, France, Germany and Spain.

The young entertainer is committed to hard work, moving his career to another level and becoming a prominent name in the dancehall industry. He recently released an album featuring songs like If Wig Place and Please Credit Me.
