Ebenezer Baptist Church

Name: Ebeneezer Baptist Church

Name: Ebenezer Baptist Church

Location: George's Pen, Four Paths, Clarendon.

Denomination: Baptist

Current Pastor: Cyril C. Clarke

CHURCH HISTORY: The church was established in 1834. Since then the church has been led by 14 ministers and seven student pastors among other preachers and lay-preachers.

Ebenezer has felt the blows of several hurricanes including Hurricane Charlie which destroyed the building in 1951. This was a difficult period for the church as it was without a resident pastor. So it was that Mrs I.V. McFarlane and Deacon Norman Blake stepped in and supervised the functions of the church and and thus held the church's congregants together.

Over its history, the growth of the church was not dramatic, but steady. The accumulative efforts of all the ministers, dedicated members and well-wishers has seen Ebenezer becoming the mother church for what is known today as the Four Paths Circuit of Baptist churches. The other churches within the circuit are: Mt. Lebanon (Victoria Town) 1834, Jubilee 1844, Beulah 1892 and Faith 1892; all under the auspices of the Jamaica Baptist Union (JBU).

Outreach: A cell-group ministry was introduced at Ebenezer along with counselling and healing ministries and a health clinic.

There is a growing Sunday school, a thriving youth fellowship, an active brotherhood, women's federation, and music ministries.

In the aim of widening the scope of mission and evangelism, annual evangelistic crusades are held along with integrated health fairs. These were introduced and successfully managed by Rev Clarke since the year 2004. Jubilee, Faith, Beulah and Mt Lebanon all have auxiliary groups.
