Defending Champions Kingston College (KC), got their campaign to retain their title off to a positive start by defeating newcomers, Aabuthnott Gallimore High in TVJ's Schools' Challenge Quiz, yesterday.

The brand new KC team won 31-2 to their young opponents who thought their defeat would have been far worse. "We expected worse because we are new I thought it would be worse," Kenroy Wilson, captain of the Aabuthnott team said.

From section one of the match, KC had established its clear lead, scoring 12 points to Aabuthnott's one point.

Section two was much of the same with KC continuing to increase its points, while Aabuthnott maintained its score for most of the section. When it ended KC was on 22 points while Aabuthnott was on two points.

As section three was set to begin, KC's score was increased to 23 points after the judges review.

Room for improvement

Section three was totally one sided with KC buzzing in and getting questions wrong and right. When the section and the match ended, they had 31 points while Aabuthnott had two points.

Kingston College was glad they won but said there was still room for improvement. "We will be working on all the areas," captain Kenneth Peart said about the teams plans for their next match.

The KC boys said although they were a brand-new team; their main aim was to ensure that they maintain the school's reputation of doing well in the competition.

In addition, he said that they were working to reach the finals and retain their title.

Members of the KC team: Alain N'Dalla, Oral Lawson, Roland Douglas and Kenneth Peart (captain).

Members of the Aabuthnott Gallimore: Wilbert McIntosh, Rushane Reid, Kenroy Wilson (captain) and David Jabore.
