Two suspects wanted in connection with the murder of
popular Linstead businessman, Roy Lee, are now in police
custody.
Police sources told THE STAR the suspects were held last Friday following reports of them allegedly robbing a group of people in Bridgeport, St. Catherine.
Acting on reports, police on patrol along the Old Harbour main road accosted the men in a
vehicle. The men allegedly opened fire at the police and a gun battle ensued. Both men were, however, held.
Police connected the men, who are from St. John's Road, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, to Mr. Lee's killing, based on the results of
ballistics tests.
This development comes after the police initially said they were unable to link the men to the murder because the serial number of the gun was erased. THE STAR learned that the tests were conducted on the firearm allegedly found in their possession.
The tests proved that the weapon was Lee's legal firearm which was stolen from him when he was killed. The identification of the men are, however, being withheld, pending further investigations.
Lee was gunned down at his business place on December 8.
