Man protests rape accusation

A man held in connection with the rape and abduction of a 14-year-old girl was remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Garfield Pryce appeared before Resident Magistrate Glen Brown to answer to charges of abduction and conspiracy to rape and abduct.

The court was told that on the day in question, the teenager was walking across a playing field in her community when she was abducted and taken to a nearby abandoned house by four men. She was reportedly raped by three of those men. The accused man was later pointed out by the complainant.

The lawyer representing Pryce told the court that his client was strongly contesting the allegations and said he was a family man with a nine-year-old daughter.

A preliminary enquiry into the matter is set for January 14.
