A man who was out on bail after being accused of throwing a corrosive substance on his child's mother's pubic area again found himself in prob-lems following a recent attack on the complainant.
Brenton Malcolm, of St. James, was remanded on February 26, when he appeared in the Spanish Town RM Court and pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and malicious destruction of property.
Malcolm, whom the court learnt was on bail from November 2006, on a case of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, went to the complainant's house in Portmore and threatened her on February 19. It is reported that on the following day, he went to her workplace and used a pen to stab her several times on her hand. She had to be rescued by other persons. It is alleged that following that incident, he damaged the door to her house. A subsequent report was made to the police and he was arrested and charged.
When he appeared before RM. Lorna Errar Gayle, he pleaded guilty even before the Clerk of Court asked him to plead. He added that he was in love with his child's mother and that he had recently spent more than $100,000 on a birthday party for the child and there was a mutual understanding between complainant and himself.
The complainant, however, denied his story and asked the court for protection.
Malcolm was subsequently remanded into custody as RM Gayle said the court was concerned because he had viciously attacked the complainant last year and was out on bail, but had committed the latest attack.
Although pleading for bail, Malcolm was remanded until March 15 when the other matter will also be mentioned.
