Woman gets six-month sentence for ganja

A woman caught exporting eight pounds of marijuana, was sentenced to six months imprisonment in the Corporate Area RM Court on Friday.

Sandra Todd, 38, from Browns Town, St.Ann, is charged with possession, dealing and taking steps to export marijuana.

Allegations are that on February 14 about 11:15 a.m., Todd checked into a Caribbean Airlines flight to St. Maarten and was stopped and searched. Eight rectangular packages wrapped in brown masking tape and transparent plastic were found strapped to her upper body. She was arrested. When cautioned, she reportedly said, "Offica, mi a go tell yu how mi come by it."

Todd pleaded guilty and was fined $12,800 or six months for possession, $25,600 or six months for dealing and $64,000 or six months for taking steps to export ganja, in addition to the six months imprisonment.
