Another deejay has tied the knot.

Deejay 'Zum Zum Zum Jay', real name, Rohan Stephens, recently got married overseas to his 'empress', Aviesha Palmer, "now Aviesha Stephens," according to him.

The wedding, which was held in Manhattan last week Wednesday, November 29, was low-key, as guests included only close friends.

"Lenky was the bestman, Cassette Jones was there, mi DJ brethren from New York name Ice, he was there and two of the bride's close friends (Sean O'Connor and Adanna Thomas) were there as well," Zumjay said.

Zumjay says for now his wife will continue to live abroad and he in Jamaica, as they both seek to further cement their careers.

"She lives abroad but me and her went to high school out here ova Hydel. ten years now mi know ar. Dem time deh she was mi likkle girlfriend but wi graduate, me guh on to music and she eventually went to Cornell University in New York, where she majored in economics and Spanish and a minor in Latin American studies. But wi a guh work out wi ting, cause my job depends on me being in Jamaica for the most part, but fi right now, like how wi a build a foundation I feel it's best she continue her career over there.

Time away builds

Zumjay says the time away from each other helps to build the relationship.

"Dat mek our ting special cause when wi link up we talk like every minute of the day an when wi see each other we appreciate each other even more," Zumjay explained.

He added, "Mi always a travel suh a nuh like seh wi nuh si each other fi no long period a time."

Right now, Zumjay says he feel as if his life is complete as he looks to the future.

"Mi jus feel overwhelmed and composed and mature right now. mi ready fi continue wid di rest a mi life and live happily ever after," Zumjay said.

And where having children is concerned, Zumjay says, "in the future, definitely."

Aviesha who is an insurance broker (risk analyst) with a company called Marsh in Manhattan says, "Everything is great, I'm happy and everything is as I expected it to be, but there are some changes that I have to make, like as far as my name goes."

Like Zumjay, Aviesha says she is not worried about the separate living arrangements, as this is only temporary.

"Right now, we do get to see each other fairly often. I travel to Jamaica often and he comes here and hopefully in the future we'll both be together in the same location.

I don't think this will continue indefinitely," she said.
