An 89th-minute penalty by Irvino English prevented National Premier League champions Waterhouse from slipping to their first defeat of the season as they salvaged a 1-1 draw with Tivoli Gardens at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium last night.

Christopher Jackson had put the visitors ahead in the 26th minute with one of his trademark free kicks but English's goal in the dying minutes ensured the points were distributed evenly.

Leaders Waterhouse moved to 29 points, five ahead of Harbour View who had an off day as their complex was hosting the Caribbean Club Championships.

Tivoli are in fifth place on 20 points.

"After they scored against the run-of-play we made some adjustments in the second half and we totally took over the game," said Waterhouse coach Barrington Gaynor.

"We got the penalty in the end which got us a point, so good performance from us."

Seba snapped a five-game winless streak when they edged Village United 1-0 at Jarrett Park thanks to a Glenroy Miller goal in the 45th minute. Seba, which lost coach Geoffrey Maxwell last week, were recording only their fourth win of the season and moved to 10th place on 13 points. Former national midfielder Theodore Whitmore is playing a dual role of player/coach until a new coach is identified.

Village United are eighth on 15 points.

August Town held Portmore United to a 0-0 draw at Prison Oval. The goalless draw carried promoted August Town to 11 points whereas Portmore moved to 22.

Portmore coach Paul Young said his team was forced to play out of character in the first half. "We played their game in the first-half, a running game," he said.

"They caught us out of our normal game. We should have been a little more patient."

Young admitted the draw, their seventh this season, won't help their title hopes but said it was better than losing.

"August Town are clutching at everything," he said. "They came twice as hard. At least we didn't lose."

Boys' Town rebounded from last week's 2-1 loss to Tivoli to clip Naggo Head 1-0.

Peter Keyes' 22nd-minute goal pushed Boys' Town to 18 points while Naggo Head remain winless and at the bottom with three points.
