Bounty Killer - File
Today THE STAR continues one of its latest features, a weekly review of new songs. Three musical minds with different tastes will analyse each song and will grade it on vocal ability, lyrics, musical arrangement and appeal. Songs that make the grade will be given our stamp of approval, 'Mus' Buss'. For those songs that fail, well they will be dumped under the 'Caan Buss' heading.
The three reviewers welcome feedback from the artistes and the public about the column. Send your comments to bussdem@ hotmail.com, or if you are an artiste wishing your song to be reviewed, send the CD to:

This week, Mus' Buss/Caan Buss takes a look at Bounty Killer's Get It Back. The song appears to be about a relationship gone sour, as the Killer says even though his ex-girlfriend has requested him back in her life, "anyting mi dash weh mi nuh tek it back."
TAE: Yow, mi nah lie, the lyrics in this latest Bounty song sings to the familiar scenario of his ex-girlfriend D'Angel who has now moved on with his rival, Beenie Man. Di Warlord deh pon di warpath again.
Queen: As much as his lyrics sound confrontational, it makes you stop and listen because the Killer has sung cleverly about certain 'issues' that seem to be bothering him.
xXx: Hear mi nuh, di riddim sound all right an him ride di riddim good, but who want him back? Mi nuh hear nutt'n inna di street seh D' Angel want him back? Di song would a mek more sense if sum'n did actually guh suh. Besides, him cyaan find no other topic fi broach?
TAE: Well, a di whole heap a passa passa an mix-up, mix-up di people dem love, suh I guess di Killa feel him can do a ting wid da tune yah. Even though I agree seh him mus' have odda mad lyrics fi spit bout odda issues.
xXx: As far as you saying 'him feel seh him can do sum'n wid di song', aaaaahm, no. But wi can do something wid di cd, use it as Frisbee, a makeshift saucer, etc. Mi expec betta from di Warlord in terms of the lyrics. Weh di song dem wid longevity deh?
Queen: Well, mi agree wid yuh, TAE, seh him did a try look a hype off a di whole passa passa ting, but mi lose off a him. Mi nuh expec di Warlord, everyting s'maddy seh him a guh answer. We don't need to know, we don't give a damn, him not wit ar an dat is it.
TAE: But mi feel di humour inna some parts a di song still, like di part weh him a seh, "when she ready fi di bump an ... di likkle beenie man she cyan find him, she sey di boss mussi tek him an hide him." Worried!
Queen: I must admit dat him ride di riddim good an di lyrics were well written. Suh mi definitely haffi give it a Buss.
xXx: I've heard you use your ingenuity fi mek some sick song. A straight change station fi dis ... mi nah gi it no Buss!
TAE: Di tune good still but mi feel seh Bounty fi leggo off a D' Angel, Beenie ting yah now, but me wi still gi it a Buss.
