Starting out

( L - R ) Tessane and Tami Chynn - File photos

What really got the ball rolling was when I went on tour with Jimmy Cliff for three years and then I was with Mile High (band) for two years, then after that I started working on my own, said Tessanne.

THE STAR's Artistes of the Month, Tami Chynn and Tessanne Chin are hot new-comers to the business. Though their music is enjoyed by their fans, it wasn't an easy road getting it out there for all to hear. They spoke of the number of years it took to achieve what they wanted the most - music.

According to Tami, "As everyone knows, I am from a very musical family. I was in Florida five years ago and some guys were interested in developing me and they loved how my sound was. Then we decided 'what the heck' we were going to try and do some work here. So three years ago I released my first single in Jamaica called Rock You featuring Kid Kurupt. Then I started voicing riddims, singles and doing a few collaborations. So that was basically my start."

Tessanne says, "Well, I started out about seven years ago ... What really got the ball rolling was when I went on tour with Jimmy Cliff for three years and then I was with Mile High (band) for two years, then after that I started working on my own. So far, it has been a world of fun and every morning I look forward to waking up every morning. I guess there is no better job to do."
