A St. Thomas man died on Friday after coming in contact with what was described as super charged electrical conveyors.
Thirty-five-year-old Baldwin Davis of Leithhall in the parish was electrocuted when he tried to do an illegal reconnection to his house, after Jamaica Public Service (JPS)service contractors had disconnected his electricity two days before.
Davis who it is understood is a security guard, came home to see his electricity disconnected after being away from home for two days. He was reportedly told that he lost his light the same day he left for work.
Davis, who allegedly did not have a contract with the JPS but was using the electricity decided to do his own reconnection.
It is said that Davis was advised that the disconnection was done in a way to make it difficult for any illegal reconnection, but he insisted on reattaching the wire.
It was reported that sometime after Davis was working on the reconnection effort, he was knocked from the ladder to the ground and was there for close to 10 minutes before any assistance could reach him. He was pronounced dead at Hospital.
