PEOPLE'S POLL: Hecking the rate of employment

In order to get an idea of the rate of employment, we asked :

Do you have a full-time job, or a part-time job; are you self-employed, retired, a student, a housewife, out of work and looking for a job, not looking for a job, or what?

March May July

Full-time 23% 26% 28%

Part-time 11 14 12

Self-employed 35 33 33

Retired 6 6 4

Student 5 5 4

Housewife 3 2 4

Sick/disabled - 1 2

Out of work

Looking 13 12 13

Not looking 3 2 2

These results show that the majority of the respondents are self-employed. This is probably very reflective of the wider reality as many persons opt to start their own businesses when all else fails.

The poll was conducted on July 15 and 16 by Johnson Survey Research Limited

Sample size: 1,008 residents

Age of sample : 18 and older

Sampling error : +/- 3.1 %
