Elephant Man - File
It was a traffic-blocking, jam-packed, high-energy, entertainment-filled occasion inside the Amnesia Night Club's parking lot in Ocho Rios last Saturday when the 'Energy God' Elephant Man held his birthday celebrations there.
The streets in Ochi town were blocked, as patrons scurried to find parking and a comfortable spot inside the jam-packed parking area where the show was being held.
A number of artistes turned out to share in the Elephant's celebrations, as a mixture of fresh and seasoned artistes, some currently hot, others cold, took the stage and gave energetic performances.
Acts like Jovi and Yogi, Nanko, Lutan Fyah, Ras Myhrdak, DaVille, Anthony Cruz, Perfect, Anthony B and Teflon took the stage in the early hours of the morning, thrilling the audience with a number of their popular songs.
The Renaissance Crew and DJ Sky Juice had responsibilities on the turntables, the Renaissance crew ensuring that patrons danced and got crazy to a number of dancehall's current hot tracks, while DJ Sky Juice, in his usual style, gave patrons a 'belly-full' to look and laugh at with his antics on stage.
The second round of the live stage show saw the likes of Chuck Fender taking the stage at 4:00 a.m., as he asked, "Who is worthy to be praised?'' before 'gashing and lighting' rapists.
burst of energy
Turbulence also took the stage with a burst of energy, performing snippets of his more popular songs, but before he exited stage, he briefly addressed an issue having to do with ex-girlfriend, Sasha.
"Da new song yah nuh have nutt'n fi do wid Sasha," he declared, as he delivered a piece of it before taking his leave.
At 4:30 a.m., the birthday boy, the man of the moment, Elephant Man took the stage, ensuring to make his birthday wish.
"Mi waan hear everybody seh, Elephant Happy Birthday!"
He then broke into a number of his hot tracks, like Nuh Junjo and Badman Forward.
But after he had a full five minutes for himself, other artistes could no longer hold back, as he was joined on stage by Delly Ranx who did a couple hits, including Headache, which he recorded with Elephant Man some years ago.
Other artistes who joined the party on stage were Kiprich, Monsta Twins, Mad Cobra, (clad in full black ninja attire), Nitty Kutchie, Alley Cat, Predator, Einstein, Egg Nogg and others.
After the Cobra got mad and sought to restore some sort of order by chasing off a few of the irrelevant persons, this set the stage for 'the warlord in the building' as Bounty Killer took the stage at 5:00 a.m. to loud screams and cheers around the Amnesia parking lot.
He thrilled the crowd with his lyrical fury, even pulling upon a couple from his archives, among them, Eagle And The Hawk, Lodge, War, Suspense and Excuse Pass Mi Cellular Phone.
Busy Signal then made a Step Out, Mavado engaged in Gun Battle and reminded that he was still a Gangsta For Life, while Bling Dawg, Dadda, K-Queens and General B all took turns over the microphone to share in the mad vibes on stage.
