I have been a member of Church Dayton Diamond Ridge since 1979. This church is coming from a humble little cottage.

Before the scandal Dayton Avenue church stood as a beacon on the Hill radiating aggressively the full way of salvation.

It would be impossible for one to believe that this magnificent house of prayer suddenly crumbled under such a disgraceful scandal.

During my 27 years association as a member, I can categorically say I have neither seen nor heard of our leaders covering up or condoning any wrongdoing. indeed, we are blessed by their impeccable characters, leadership and examples.

Even visitors who visit this assembly can testify of receiving a joyous blessing. This church always received several distinguished and prominent visitors. I will only identify two.

Our former Governor-General, Sir Howard Cooke, who testified that the presence of the Lord is evident among us.

The Chief Justice of Jamaica, the Honourable Justice Wolfe (a good friend of mine), always mentioned that he felt comfortable and at home, whenever he visits this church.

I am in no position to indicate to the media neither what to write nor how to write, it's their prerogative, but discretion goes a far way.

A more tactful and diplomatic composition by the media would have helped to save the church from such a shame and disgraceful gravity. This scenario does not affect Dayton Avenue congregation alone, but globally, and every professed Christian.

A few weeks ago a lady from a Seventh-day Adventist church sent a message to me, requesting a recommendation. she was offered a job and was asked for two recommendations, but none from a minister of religion. I am greatly distraught by the remarks made by His Worship the Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Desmond McKenzie regarding "the so- called church."

An apology would be graciously accepted for this harsh and impetuous action. I am deeply saddened over the alleged wicked atrocity committed on this 13-year-old girl.

I am praying that she and her family will be fully recovered from this disastrous tragedy that is upon her life. Trusting God that justice will be fully served.
