The lead story in yesterday's STAR reported that one of Jamaica's biggest DJs hid in bushes from the police.

The artiste Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Pryce ended up in the bush after running from police who were trying to prosecute him for cursing at his show, 'Saddle to the East' in St. Thomas.

According to the story, he had driven off in his car and parked it and ran into bushes where police found him and arrested him. What's quite funny about the situation is the artiste is known widely as the 'Warlord', yet at a time which required him to be responsible and face 'the war' he ran.

Artistes are often considered as role models for many young people and their actions provide some form of lesson for children. Was Bounty teaching children to run from the law and the consequences of your actions by doing what he did?

It was also sad that the event, which was to be a charity event, had to be called off because of the bottle throwing and disorder which followed.

Despite what happened, the practice of arresting artistes for using profanity is not new and it's time that our artistes wise-up and learn to perform in an exciting and memorable manner without the obscene language. Everyone wants to enjoy themselves when they attend these stage shows, but to do so does not require one to throw law and order through the window.
