Joseph to lead Antigua

ST JOHN'S, CMC

AS EXPECTED, WEST Indies 'A' team captain Sylvester Joseph has been named to lead Antigua and Barbuda in a two-day practice match against the touring Indians next week, the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association announced yesterday.

Joseph, who has played four Tests, is one of three Windies players in the 13-man squad selected for the game on May 30 and 31 at the Police Recreation Ground.

The other two are fast bowler Adam Sanford, who last played a Test during England's 2004 tour of the Caribbean, and fast medium-pacer Kerry Jeremy who has represented the Windies at one-day international level.

Jeremy recently recovered from a hamstring injury which had sidelined him from since last October.

The lone specialist slow bowler is leg-spinner Anthony Martin.

SQUAD: Sylvester Joseph (captain), Justin Athanaze, Adam Sanford, Kerry Jeremy, Anthony Martin, Devon Thomas, Chad Hampson, Gavin Williams, Kerry Mentor (wkp), Daniel Thomas, Michael Challenger, Gregg Skepple, Stephan Mathew.
