ATTORNEYS REPRESENTING TWO under age girls who are charged jointly with a man for kidnapping and beating two Life of Jamaica agents requested an early trial date since bail was not being granted speedily for their clients.
The three appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
The court was told that the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) was still reviewing the file to make a decision on whether to admit the young ladies to bail. Although the women's attorneys attempted to get bail again for them, because of the review being done by the DPP, presiding Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey could not make a ruling.
The attorneys also requested copies of the file so that they could prepare and have an early trial however because the documents were being reviewed and would not be available, an early mention date of May 31 was set instead.
The allegations are that on March 14, Steve McCalla, 34 and the two women worked together to kidnap and rob two Life of Jamaica sales agents. McCalla had no legal representation and has yet to make an application for bail.
