Embassy needs proper accommodation
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I am disgruntled about the fact that quite recently the visa fees had been announced to be increased to $8000. Quite a number of times when I pass the U.S. Embassy located on Oxford Road whenever there is a number of people waiting to do their interview, they have to suffer the consequence of waiting in a long line for quite a good while in the sun. I think this is unfair for us Jamaicans to pay so much money for visa fees and still have to be punished in the sun for long hours before being processed. I think the relevant authority should set up a tent to accommodate the clients. Proper arrangements should be made instead of having the clients standing for a long time on the sidewalk. My second point is why is it that the application fees are so high? Some people are not in the financial position to pay it and you are not certain of getting the visa that you apply for. I am appealing to the relevant authority to look into the matter and try to fix the situation.
I am, etc., MARK BELL Kingston 20
