Christian and the Rasta

Dear Pastor,

I am a 19-year-old girl who is a Christian. I got involved with this man who is a Rastafarian and started dating him three months ago. All is well. But what is concerning me is if this relationship is right? He treats me well and I like him a lot.

Could you give me your take on this please? Thank you.

L. M., St. Catherine, Jamaica

Dear L.M,

I have never met a Rastafarian who accepts Jesus Christ as his Saviour and Lord. As a Christian you have embraced Christ as your Reedemer and Saviour.

The Rasta man believes that Hail Selassie is his god. Therefore, to marry a Rastafarian is to be unequally yoked. It is either you are going to become a Rastafarian or the Rastafarian becomes a Christian, because the Bible says "two cannot walk together unless they be agreed."

I hope you understand what I am saying. I am not attacking you or your Rastafarian boyfriend. I am just trying to tell you that you have a big decision to make.

Pastor
