Police investigate Finnish man's death

THE FALMOUTH POLICE have commenced a probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Finnish national at the Harmony Hall main road in the parish on Saturday night.

Dead is 53-year-old Timo Juhane Pellinen of Helsinki, Finland.

Reports from the CCN liaison officer for the parish, are that about 10 p.m. Mr. Pellinen and his wife, a Jamaican, were on their way from the Sangster International Airport to Ocho Rios.

REAR-ENDED

On reaching a section of the Harmony Hall main road, they made a stop. A car reportedly drove up and bumped into the rear of the couple's car.

A man came out and assessed the damage, which was minor. After a brief conversation with the couple, explosions were heard. It was found that Mr. Pellinen had been shot. He died on the spot.

Mrs. Pellinen ran into nearby bushes and managed to escape.

The police were summoned and Mr. Pellinen's body was removed to morgue for examination.
