SCHOOLGIRLS, WORKING GIRLS and just ordinary girls going about their business, all took the time on Friday to chill with Assassin. THE STAR's Artiste of the month of September stopped at the Aquarius Record Shop in York Plaza, Half-Way Tree to sign autographs.
One group of ladies locked shop just to meet the Deejay. Millicent Malcolm, one of five hairdressers at Happy Hair Salon in York Plaza told THE STAR that she and her co-workers had to lock up shop and come over to Aquarius when they heard that Assassin was there.
"Well I only see him on T.V. so I wanted to come and see him in person. Mi si di whole heap a school girl dem a pass an mi hear seh Assassin ova here, suh wi sehh mek wi come si Assassin," Malcolm said.
EXCITED
Shanique Mason, a third form student at Holy Childhood High School, who was one of the winners in the Assassin Infiltration school's essay competition, turned up at the Aquarius Record Shop with a photocopied version of her essay that was published in THE STAR for Assassin to autograph.
Mason, who was overcome with excitement and filled with nerves, could hardly bring herself to stand beside Assassin.
"When he was going to hug me, I didn't know what to do, I was speechless and my feet were glued to the floor," she said.
Assassin satisfied his fans, most of whom were women, one by one. He signed autographs, pictures, posters and even gave a few hugs, when asked. All the while the Aquarius Record Shop kept the vibes bouncing with music from Assassin's latest album, Infiltration.
After two hours of autograph signing, Assassin got up from behind his desk and chair and lazily made a stretch for the ceiling, while giving a shout, "woooy!"
That was a wrap. The artiste had done his time, and according to Assassin, it was one well spent with the fans.
"Di time maximise and the turnout was excellent, so good vibes," he said.
When asked about the toll on his hand from signing so many autographs, Assassin said:
"Bwoy it did ruff pon di hand, but wi use to it, cause wi use to have run-ins wid di law at school, suh wi kinda use to it. But this time it wasn't punishment, it was all a different vibe today, it was all good," Assassin said.
