A 40-YEAR-OLD man of a St James address who is accused of indecently assaulting his 11-year- old daughter is still unrepresented even after being in jail for the past two months.
The accused was again remanded in custody on Wednesday when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's court for a fourth time.
The man told Residing Resident Magistrate Wilson Smith, that he was still unrepresented because he was unable, despite many attempts, to contact his family for help in getting an attorney.
Sexual relationship
The allegations are that the child, who was living with her father and her other siblings because her mother had migrated, was molested on Sunday, June 12, 2005. Reports are that, at about 4:30 p.m while at home, the man sent the other children outside the house and ordered to be left alone with the girl.
It is further alleged that the man told the girl that he wanted to have a sexual relationship with her but that she was not to mention it to anyone. It is alleged that he also fondled her.
The child reportedly ran into her bedroom and was chased by the accused, who is said to have forced her unto the bed and proceeded to kiss and fondle her.
It was stated that the child fought him off and ran to her aunt, who subsequently took her to the police station.
It is alleged that the girl's older sister also ran away because of her father's inappropriate behaviour.
The accused is to return to court on the 30th of August when the case will again be mentioned.
