MICHAEL LAOE, THE man who police said had an hand in the incident in which his wife was doused with acid was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Laoe is facing the charge of murder after his wife died in the hospital on Sunday night because of the burns she received after being doused with a bucket of corrosive substance. Laoe was previously charged with aiding and abetting and conspiracy to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
When the matter came up for mention before Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle, a calm looking Laoe dressed in white t-shirt and jeans listened attentively as the investigating officer informed the court that the file for the case was incomplete. The investigating officer told the courts that they were still awaiting other statements and the forensic report.
After hearing this information, RM. Martin Gayle set August 16 as the next mention date. He was ordered to have his fingerprints taken.
Allegations are that on June 10 at about 8:30 a.m., the complainant, who is Laoe's wife, was doused with acid after getting off a bus and entering the compound of the Constant Spring Tax Office.
